Switch from Coach’s Eye to V1
Coach’s Eye shut down on 31 March 2022. This is the practical migration guide: what you can rescue, which V1 app replaces which part of your old setup, and how to get your teaching workflow back in an afternoon.
The short version of the Coach’s Eye migration
Players move to V1 GOLF, which is free and covers recording, slow motion, drawing and side-by-side comparison. Instructors move to V1 COACH, which adds a student roster, lesson history and voice-over lessons delivered straight into the student’s app. Any clip you exported before the shutdown imports normally; anything left only in the Coach’s Eye cloud is gone.

Collect whatever Coach's Eye video you still have
Anything exported to your camera roll, a computer, or cloud storage before the shutdown is still usable. Gather those clips into one folder per student so the import stays organised.
Install the V1 apps
V1 GOLF is the free player app for recording and reviewing swings. V1 COACH is the instructor app with the student roster, telestration and lesson delivery. Coaches usually run both.
Import your archive
Add saved clips from the camera roll or files app like any other video. Old lessons keep their burned-in drawings; new analysis is layered on top with V1's own tools.
Rebuild your student list
Create a student profile per player and attach their historical swings. From then on every lesson lands in the same timeline, so progress comparisons work across years.
Recreate your lesson workflow
The Coach's Eye habit — scrub, draw, talk over the clip, send it — maps one to one onto V1 COACH. The difference is delivery: the lesson lands inside the student's own V1 GOLF app instead of a shared file.

Coach’s Eye migration questions
Is Coach's Eye gone for good?
Yes. TechSmith retired Coach's Eye on 31 March 2022. The apps were removed from the App Store and Google Play, the cloud service closed, and no further updates or support are available. Existing installs still on an old device may open, but nothing syncs.
How do I switch from Coach's Eye to V1?
Install V1 GOLF (free) and, if you teach, V1 COACH. Import any Coach's Eye clips you exported to your camera roll or computer, create a profile for each student, and attach their historical swings. Your scrub-draw-voice-over-send workflow carries over directly.
Can I recover videos left in the Coach's Eye cloud?
No. Cloud-hosted footage was deleted when the service shut down. Only clips you exported before then can be migrated.
Is there a free Coach's Eye alternative for players?
Yes — V1 GOLF is free on iOS and Android and covers recording, slow motion, drawing tools and side-by-side comparison. V1 COACH is the paid instructor tier.
Will my students need to buy anything?
No. Students download V1 GOLF free and receive your lessons in the app.
